COBI-6282 DR BR 52 Steam Locomotive

A block model kit of the German steam locomotive DR BR 52/Ty2 from World War II announces a brand new "Trains" collection from COBI. The block design faithfully reproduces the body, proportions and details of the legendary steam locomotive, which is probably the most popular and most recognizable of all railway vehicles in the world.

The locomotive model was designed in 1:35 scale and has many details such as symbols, numbering, markings and many prints inside the locomotive's engine room. Thanks to the easily removable roof in the engine room, you can look inside to see the faithfully reproduced details of the units and instruments used to drive the vehicle. You can even see burning coals in the firebox!

Just like with a real steam locomotive, the entire engine and tender are connected in such a way that it moves simultaneously. Inside the model are gears that form a complex mechanism that ensures realistic movement of the wheels and the entire drive. Just gently press the model to move the entire locomotive. The set also includes a figure of a German railwayman in a uniform from World War II.

Five different wheel designs in the locomotive allow the model to sit perfectly on block tracks and also be able to take turns. It is worth noting that the model is also fully compatible with block tracks from other brands of blocks.

The offer also faithfully reflects its historical inspiration. Inside there are many rich details that make the set even more photorealistic. It also has torsion wheel carriages and a special coupling to which other carriages can be attached to form a whole train. The COBI company has also developed its own form of a block that recreates part of the track. The set includes five such sections with a total length of about 65 cm. The track is made using the modern two-color injection technology, which means that each individual section is made of two different colors of plastic that are connected to each other.

The rails in the color gray steel stand out clearly from the very realistic brown railway grinders. There are no visible pins (studs) on each tie, which enhances their realism, and each of them is covered with a board texture, an imitation of wood fibers. Tracks can be attached to block plates and have a physical hole, thanks to which you can permanently attach the track to any display you create. The BR 52 was a German-built freight steam locomotive, manufactured in many European factories from 1942 to 1945. It was a very cheap, simple, yet very reliable steam locomotive. In Poland after World War II, more than 1,200 of these vehicles were used in the Polish State Railways.

The locomotive could pull freight trains with a total weight of up to 620 tons at a speed of 80 km/h or 1,700 tons at a speed of 50 km/h. The locomotive was also used many times to transport passenger trains.
