On February 9, 1969, the most famous and one of the largest long-haul passenger aircraft took to the air for the first time.

The Boeing 747, also known as the "Jumbo Jet", was designed by the American company Boeing in the 1960s and entered commercial service in 1970. Its distinctive appearance, with the main passenger deck positioned on top of the fuselage, is its defining characteristic.

As one of the largest passenger aircraft in the world, the Boeing 747 can accommodate over 600 passengers in a typical configuration. It was initially used mainly on intercontinental routes but is now in service with many airlines around the world. The last Boeing 747 was manufactured on December 6, 2022.
